Testimonials

I very recently purchased a Kawai GL10 baby grand piano from Gordon Bell Pianos. After spending lots of time trawling many websites looking for my dream piano, my very knowledgeable dad led me to Gordon’s door. Despite the fact that the delivery was going to be a mammoth 600 miles from Aberdeen to sunny Bournemouth, Gordon was happy to oblige and so the order was placed. The product itself is beautiful and I am very much looking forward to getting lots of time playing over the coming years. Gordon, Lewis and my father delivered the piano on Sunday afternoon, keen to get it installed, despite their nine-hour drive! After a meal, an evening out and an overnight rest, they were back on the road to return to Bonny Scotland! Thank you, Gordon, for a beautiful product that will last my lifetime and beyond. For your efficiency, humour and enthusiasm to deliver such a long way from home and for including my dad in this experience!

Gordon Bell Pianos supports the charity in a number of ways:
Gordon introduced the Festival to Kawai, and as a result, Kawai has been the principal sponsor of the June festival for a number of years. Gordon arranges for his team to deliver, tune and collect the 7 or so pianos required during the festival week.  This includes not only the provision of upright and grand instruments available locally but also the provision of the fantastic top of the range Shigeru Grand piano that Kawai makes available for the Piano Section and for the Closing Finale. The Festival is enormously grateful for this generous sponsorship and to Gordon for making it happen. (Mention here long drive to fetch the piano??)
Throughout the year, Gordon Bell Pianos sponsors NE Performing Arts by: - providing pianos for Community Concerts held at Mannofield Church. - providing and maintaining pianos in the Library and Workshop/Rehearsal room at the Festival Headquarters at Hill of Rubislaw.  This generous contribution means that practice/rehearsal facilities can be made available to all, free of charge.
Gordon frequently facilitates the smooth running of events in a variety of other ways. For example, his team have assisted with the transport of a suite of percussions instruments to enable young performers to take part in a concert.
Most recently, Gordon heard of a young pianist unable to take part in the 2020 online festival, due to lack of a suitable instrument during lockdown.  He generously allowed access to his showroom so that the youngster could video her performance and enter.  She performed very well, and was the first recipient of the Kawai Trophy.
NE Performing Arts is extremely thankful to Gordon and hope that they will continue to find ways to work together to promote and support musical performance in the Aberdeen.

Over several years, I have purchased both upright (Yamaha) and digital (Kawai) pianos from Gordon Bell Pianos. The level of customer service and support provided on all occasions has always been superlative. Gordon goes out of his way to supply beautiful pianos and is always on hand to deal with queries, When you buy a piano from Gordon you do so with the reassurance that you can return to him with questions at any point in time. In addition, he provides awn excellent tuning service. Aberdeen is very fortunate to have such an excellent piano dealer who genuinely supplies a personalised level of customer care with each piano he sells.

Dear Mr Bell,

I have recently been awarded a scholarship from NESMS, towards my piano lessons with Joseph Long.

I gather I have Gordon Bell Pianos to thank for this award. I greatly enjoy my lessons with Mr Long, and will work hard to make the most of these scholarship lessons.

Thank You very much!

Dear Gordon,

On behalf of the Management Council, Staff, Volunteers and especially the Apprentices may I thank you for your generous donation of one of your piano’s for the day. As you observed the day was very successful and from the feedback of everyone including our customers it certainly brightened up a rather wet day. Everyone around Rosemount Viaduct have been very supportive of – the bread maker – and we hope that we have been an added asset in raising the profile of the Rosemount Viaduct.

We look forward to welcoming you in – the bread maker – during the Christmas season.

Yours Sincerely,
Donald Anderson, General Manager, “the bread maker”

Dear Gordon,

I had to rush off the Monday you delivered the piano as you know and so didn’t have the time to appreciate the work you had undertaken. I wanted to let your know how pleased I am with the final result. The piano looks and sounds like better than ever. I’am glad I decided to have the work done and really pleased I found you. You are a real professional and a pleasure to deal with. I am looking forward to re-starting my piano playing and of course have a great incentive to do so.

Thanks again Gordon,

Very best regards,
Campbell Millar

Dear Gordon,

This is a very belated thanks to you for all your work regarding the transporting of the University’s Chamber Organ for our recent Charity Concert. We hugely appreciated your commitment to do this without charge, and the small line in the Programme Acknowledgements was barely adequate to express our thanks for what you did for us.

Many, many thanks and all best wishes
Elspeth Mogendorff, Queen’s Cross Charity Concerts

Dear Gordon,

Thanks so much for driving all the way to Finzean to honour our arrangement to tune my piano. Under normal circumstances this would not be worth of note, however we are under one and a half feet of snow and most of Aberdeenshire seems to have shut down.

You left your scarf, so your neck must be cold and thus I have enclosed it here.

Yours Sincerely

Andrew Douglas

Hi Gordon

Just trying to tune my Yamaha (medium) Grand, and looking at your work ‘under the bonnet’ it reminded me of the time you found it for us – about 15 or more years ago? The lady from America sold it to me, rather than take it back to the USA with her.  It had been much moved around the music circuit – New York, if memory serves.  You replaced the hammer board, and all the bass strings.  Super work.  It took you about 30 seconds to dismantle it when we arrived at the seller’s house – much to her surprise.

I wish we were nearer to Aberdeen now – so that you could tune it properly for me.  Holland is a bit far!

Glad to see that your business is flourishing.  There was never any doubt that it would, given your enthusiasm for pianos.

Regards,

Clive.
